Audience
Our readership includes researchers, educators, students, policymakers, and advocates of open science. Submissions should be accessible to a broad audience while maintaining a level of depth that provides value to those with expertise in the field.
Content Objective
Our community blog aims to foster awareness and engagement with open science by providing valuable insights, resources, and discussion on advancing transparency, accessibility, and collaboration in research and education. We seek to empower researchers, educators, and policymakers to embrace and advocate for open science principles, contributing to a more inclusive and innovative scholarly ecosystem.
Editorial Criteria
We encourage submissions from educators, researchers, and advocates of open science. By delivering clear, reliable, and engaging content, we aim to equip academics with the knowledge to make informed decisions about sharing their work and to foster a community that advocates for a more accessible scholarly landscape.
We maintain a strict separation between editorial content and advertising. Our editorial decisions are not influenced by advertisers, and all editorial content is clearly differentiated from sponsored material. This ensures that our readers receive unbiased, high-quality information aligned with OSEI’s mission.
Blog posts should aim to educate a broad audience about open science principles and applications while inspiring those who may be unfamiliar with the concepts. All submitted content must be original work by the author. Previously published material is welcome provided that republication complies with the original publisher’s guidelines.
All submissions should be clearly written in professional, academic English. The OSEI blog editorial team can provide guidance to help authors meet these standards.
Submission Requirements
- Originality: Submissions must be original works by the author. It is against our guidelines to publish generated content using artificial intelligence (AI).
- Word Count: Posts should be between 500 – 1,200 words.
- Format: Submit your article as a Word Document
- References: Include citations for any data, quotes, or references used.
- Images (Optional): Provide high-quality images (with proper attribution if not original)
- Author Bio: Include a short bio (50-100 words) with links to your website or social media
Submission Process
We ask prospective blog contributors to submit a topic proposal of 50-100 words to the editorial board before submitting a full piece. Email your submission to contact@oseinstitute.org with the subject line: “OSEI Blog Submission – [Your Title].” This helps ensure the best chance of acceptance by aligning your submission with our editorial goals. A topic proposal should clearly outline the focus of your piece and its relevance to open science and education. Expect a response with the editorial decision within 2 – 3 weeks.
Once the topic is approved, please submit your complete post, your bio, and a headshot within 30 days of receiving the acceptance email. Ensure that your submission follows our content, format, style, and image guidelines detailed below.
If the article is accepted, our editorial staff will edit your work and bio for readability, clarity, grammar, spelling, style, and academic English. You will receive a revised version for approval before publication. Additional minor edits, such as correcting any overlooked typos, may be made during the publishing process.
Your post will then be scheduled for publication on the OSEI blog. Our editorial team will inform you of the planned publication date and notify you of any changes. Please note that the OSEI Blog editorial staff reserves the right to reject any submission at any stage of the editorial process.
